Native American uses: Tea was made from the roots and used externally as a wash and internally for poison oak; the berries were dried and made into beads.
Bird Uses: Black-headed Grosbeaks, Western Bluebird, American Robins, Lesser Goldfinches, and House Finches love the coffeeberry flowers’ nectar. The berries are their fall through winter food.
